Outpatient:
Many individuals with eating disorders can be treated successfully as outpatients. Outpatient treatments for eating disorders may include specialized treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or, for adolescents with anorexia nervosa, a family based therapy frequently referred to as the Maudsley Method.

Patients are generally eligible for outpatient management (including medical management, psychotherapy, nutritional counseling, pharmacological treatment and other interventions) when they do not need the additional structure available in intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, or inpatient programs.
